3/12/2024 0 Comments Office 365 e3 vs 35If you're using ProPlus, you need (double) licensing for everyone who uses that server. They won't activate for them, and will function in read-only mode. If you use O365E3, the Business Essentials users can go on the RDS as much as they like, as long as they don't use Outlook/Word/Excel/Etc. I've noticed this on one of my clients that has a MOLP version of Office. MS also tries real hard to push people into the sign in and you may have a lot of complaints from users when this comes up. If you have standalone, non-subscription licensing (activates with a key, comes from VLSC, usually via MOLP or similar), you can also install that, but remember you need 2 licenses per user to remain compliant (annoying, yes). Office365 ProPlus can be used, but there are extra steps to get it to activate. This is the correct and intended license and it WILL work. Your BEST bet is to upgrade the RDS users to Office365 E3. (Another step towards "Everything as a Service.") The M365 plans are basically the equivalent O365 plans with some desktop stuff thrown in. I don't believe M365Business includes shared computer activation for Office apps.
